I am a Professor of Health Economics at the Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research in the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Melbourne. I obtained my PhD in health economics and MS in health policy & management, both from Harvard University.
I develop and evaluate novel strategies to improve health insurance design, health system productivity, and population health. My work uses advanced economic modelling and quantitative analyses of large data sets to study the impact of health policy and the choices of individuals.
My research has been published in medicine, health policy, and economics journals including the New England Journal of Medicine. My work has been covered in media outlets including the Australian Broadcasting Corporation news, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and US National Public Radio.
